Beneficial
Nematodes for the Control of Fleas in the Yard.
|
|
Control of developing
stages of fleas in a yard is a key component of a total flea control
pest management program. Beneficial Nematodes can
provide natural control of flea larvae and pupae
in outdoor areas without the use of traditional insecticides. The
ability to attack the fleas pupae stage makes the use of beneficial
nematodes unique among commercially available flea control sprays.
What
are they?
Beneficial
Nematodes are very small worms found
naturally in our soil and other habitats. There are many species of
nematodes -- good, bad and in between. The good nematodes kill the
pests affecting your yard and garden.
Consequently, one can gain control of fleas in the lawn or kennel by
suppressing flea populations in the lawns and other areas frequented by
the pet. Nematodes can, in addition to the control of fleas, be used to
control the following pests. The list below is actually quite
small. Beneficial nematodes can be used to control over 250
different insects.

|
What do they do?
Beneficial
Nematodes in their immature infective stage,
search, find and kill insects. The nematodes then grow and multiply
inside the insect.
|
|
How do they do it?
Beneficial
Nematodes enter an insect and release their
own unique bacteria that infect and kill the insect in 36 to 48 hours.
The beneficial nematodes then reproduce, resulting in more grub
snatchers for the lawn and garden!
|
|
What they don't do?
They
don't harm beneficial organisms such as lady
beetles and earthworms. They don't pollute our natural resources. They
are harmless to our pets and us. They are exempt from registration by
the EPA.

Our
Beneficial Nematodes are packaged on sponge
without dehydration and without the use of unacceptable solvents,
preservatives, or inhibitors making this product suitable for use in
organic and conventional gardening and farming. The sponge formulation
has the advantage that the nematodes can be easily removed from the
sponge into water and applied using a conventional garden sprayer, a
watering can, a hose-end sprayer, or introduced through closed
irrigation systems (not soaker hoses). The nematodes are small
enough to pass thru filtering screens, though you should always check
your application equipment for clogging and other debris.
Is
the Service
Guarantee
Please
be aware, no
method of outdoor flea control
is likely to provide 100% control of outdoor pests. Insects were
here
before us, and will likely be here after we are gone. The
objective is to reduce the number of fleas to as minimal a level as
possible. For this reason, outdoor services cannot carry the same
guarantee as our indoor product, Rx for Fleas Plus. You will
likely need to reapply beneficial nematodes 4-6 weeks after the initial
application, same as with any outdoor pest control method.
